UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE is Italy's national trade association for manufacturers of machine tools, robots, automation systems, and related components such as numerical controls, cutting tools, and accessories, headquartered at Viale Fulvio Testi 128 in Cinisello Balsamo, near Milan. The association was founded in 1945 and marked its 80th anniversary in 2025.
UCIMU represents more than 200 member companies that together account for over 70 percent of Italian output in the machine tool, robotics, and automation sector, and it belongs to the Confindustria industrial confederation, the Federmacchine federation of Italian capital-goods manufacturers, and CECIMO, the European association of machine tool industries. The association promotes Italian manufacturers abroad, engages national and European institutions on issues such as investment incentives and export rules, and publishes a quarterly Italian Machine Tool Orders Index; in the second quarter of 2026 the index showed total orders down 25.8 percent year on year, with foreign orders down 15.3 percent and domestic orders down 38.7 percent.
The association organizes the sector's principal Italian trade fairs, including the 35th edition of BI-MU (machine tools, robots, and automation) at fieramilano Rho in October 2026, LAMIERA (sheet-metal processing) in May 2027, and EMO MILANO in October 2027.
