TRIC Robotics is a US-based agricultural robotics company founded in 2017 by Adam Stager, headquartered in San Luis Obispo, California. The company develops and operates autonomous field robots that use ultraviolet light to control fungal diseases and pests in strawberry crops without chemical pesticides. Rather than selling robots to farms, TRIC operates its fleet as a service: robots are deployed overnight, covering each acre of client fields twice per week.
The current platform, the Luna robot (2023), covers 6 to 8 rows simultaneously and treats 50 to 100 acres per deployment, also incorporating a bug vacuum for physical pest removal. Earlier generations include Eden5 and Eden7. Pilot programs have demonstrated pesticide use reductions of up to 70%.
TRIC raised $5.5 million in seed funding and operates a fleet of over nine robots with more in production. The company won the 2023 Start-Up Award at FIRA USA and is expanding beyond California strawberry regions.
