Tinymovr

Tinymovr is a small, self-owned technology company headquartered in Komotini, Rhodope, Greece, that designs and manufactures compact, affordable motor controllers and integrated actuators targeted at robotics developers, researchers, and hobbyists. The company was founded to lower the barrier to high-performance brushless motor control by integrating advanced field-oriented control (FOC) electronics into a minimal-footprint package at an accessible price point. Tinymovr's core product, the Tinymovr motor controller, combines a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M4F microcontroller with integrated gate drivers (Qorvo PAC5527), a compact power stage (FDMD8530), and an absolute magnetic angle encoder (MPS MA702), together with CAN Bus and UART connectivity.

This integration enables precise control of three-phase brushless motors in position, velocity, and torque modes without requiring external sensor wiring or separate encoder boards. The controller is available in two form factors: the Tinymovr R5 series, designed for general-purpose robotics joints supporting up to 25A continuous phase current at up to 26V, and the Tinymovr M5, an ultra-compact 29.5 x 29.5 mm board optimized for gimbal motors and lightweight joints with up to 5A phase current. Both variants support CAN Bus daisy-chaining for multi-axis systems.

Tinymovr's most advanced offering is the Axion R1 actuator, which integrates the M5 controller with a GIM4305 brushless motor and a 10:1 planetary reducer into a single unit, providing 1 Nm continuous torque, 3 Nm peak torque, and operation from 12 to 38V with a maximum continuous power of 50W. The company also offers the CANine USB-C to CAN adapter for connecting controller networks to a host computer. All products are supported by open-source firmware, a Python API, Arduino library, and ROS compatibility, making Tinymovr controllers straightforward to integrate into custom robotic platforms.
