STIWA Group is an Austrian family-owned industrial automation company founded in 1972 by Walter and Herta Sticht in Attnang-Puchheim, Upper Austria, where the group remains headquartered. Over more than 50 years the company has grown from a single-person engineering operation into a global automation specialist employing more than 2,200 people across eleven locations on three continents. STIWA operates through three core business fields: Automation (custom assembly and production systems), Manufacturing (precision metal and plastic subassembly production), and Software (shopfloor digitalization and MES-level control).
STIWA AMS GmbH is the software entity within the group, specializing in Shopfloor Software, pre-analytics, and building automation. STIWA's Shopfloor Software goes beyond traditional Manufacturing Execution Systems by interfacing directly at the machine and PLC control level, reading real-time process data without middleware. The modular architecture scales from a single machine to globally networked production lines, enabling monitoring, optimization, and closed-loop control of manufacturing processes.
A digital twin capability allows simulation of machine and line projects during early development phases, validating concepts and material flows before physical commissioning to reduce risk and lead time. STIWA's automation division is the partner of record for custom assembly lines used in automotive, medical technology, electronics, and consumer goods sectors. The manufacturing division produces premium stamped metal parts, laser-welded assemblies, injection-molded plastics, and precision machined components.
At Automate 2026 in Chicago and Intertool 2026 in Wels, STIWA showcased end-to-end digital process chains and scalable enterprise automation solutions. The group is 100% family-owned and has no outside investors.
