SpirOps AI is an independent artificial intelligence research laboratory headquartered in Paris, France, founded in 2004. The company combines fundamental AI research with applied, industrial development work rather than operating as a subsidiary of a larger group.
SpirOps builds symbolic AI systems that the company states produce explainable decisions without requiring machine-learning training data, applying the approach across crowd simulation with individualized pedestrian agents, decision-making software for autonomous vehicles at SAE Level 3-4, procedural animation engines for human movement, and decision-making systems for autonomous trains. Its self-driving car decision-making software has been developed with Stellantis since 2015, and its MARS LGV project builds autonomous mobile units for rail-security patrol with support from Bpifrance's France 2030 program; between 2018 and 2023 the company also ran an Autonomous Train Passenger Service research project with rail-sector partners.
