Senecio Robotics is an Israeli agricultural biotechnology and robotics company headquartered in Kfar Saba, Israel. It was founded in 2013 by Hanan Lepek, who serves as chief executive. The company applies robotics and artificial intelligence to the sterile insect technique (SIT), a non-chemical method of suppressing disease-carrying mosquitoes.
Its main product is the Senecio SIT HUB, a turnkey robotic facility that rears and sorts mosquitoes and produces sterile males, with a stated capacity of up to millions per day. The system uses AI-driven monitoring, automated larva handling and sorting of adult males and females, and works with sterilization methods that include X-ray and Wolbachia. Sterile males are released by drone, van, aircraft or by hand, and the company also sells SIT as a service.
Senecio operates mainly in Israel, where it has worked with municipalities including Modi'in, Atlit, Zichron-Yaakov, Be'er-Yaakov and Savyon, several kibbutzim, and hotels and schools. It has a commercial agreement with the pest control company Rentokil.
