Sage Automation is an industrial automation and control-systems integrator headquartered at the Tonsley Innovation District in Adelaide, South Australia. Andrew Downs founded the company in 1994, and it now operates as the founding division of SAGE Group, alongside the Nukon, Skills Lab, and Embedded Expertise brands. Tetra Tech, the Nasdaq-listed engineering and consulting firm, announced its acquisition of SAGE Group in May 2025.
The company designs, engineers, and commissions control systems for manufacturing and critical-infrastructure operators, covering process analysis, hardware and software selection, network design, and delivery through to commissioning. It manufactures switchboards and electrical control panels built to Australian standards and runs a National Operations Centre that provides 24-hour monitoring and emergency response backed by a nationwide technician network. Sage Automation works across the defence, energy, resources, water, manufacturing, and transport sectors and selects automation platforms on a vendor-agnostic basis.
SAGE Group employs about 800 people across 18 offices in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region and reported 2025 revenue of more than $200 million, a scale that ranked it among the largest system integrators worldwide. The group grew in part through acquisitions of firms including PEP, Prisma, and Ailytic.
