"Building the data foundation of physical intelligence."
Singapore physical-AI data company; its HOMIE head-mounted rig and Xperience datasets supply human demonstration data to embodied-AI model builders.
Ropedia is a Singapore company that supplies the training data behind physical AI. Rather than building robots or robot models, it captures how people actually perform tasks and sells that record to the companies training embodied systems and world models. It was founded in the second half of 2025 by Zhaoxi Chen as chief executive, Fangzhou Hong as chief technology officer and Ziwei Liu, an associate professor at Nanyang Technological University, as chief scientist. It reported 31 staff in mid-2026 and lists offices in Singapore, Mountain View, Kuala Lumpur and Shanghai.
The business has three layers. HOMIE Gen2 is a head-mounted capture device worn by a person doing ordinary work, recording synchronised video, audio and depth together with hand tracking, gaze, body motion, camera pose and timestamps aligned across every stream. The Ropedia Platform then processes those recordings into usable training data. The output is sold as datasets: Xperience-10M, published openly, holds 10 million interaction episodes and more than 10,000 hours of multimodal recordings spanning video, depth, motion capture and inertial data, while Xperience Enterprise is the commercial counterpart. Custom collection is offered in three tiers, and an academic partner programme is open to researchers. Model weights are not the product; the data is.
Funding totals 30 million US dollars at pre-A stage: an 8 million round in March 2026 plus 22 million announced on 24 July 2026. Investor names are undisclosed.
Its stated customer base is more than a dozen North American companies in embodied AI and spatial intelligence, none named publicly. For a robotics supply chain Ropedia sits a layer below the model builders: a team training a manipulation policy can buy human demonstration data instead of running its own teleoperation collection, which is the bottleneck most embodied-AI groups face.

In a recent discussion, Rick Balzano, Vice President of Go-to-Market for AI Services, Safety and Robotics at TaskUs, highlighted the critical work required to make humanoid robots reliable. He emphasized that unlike large language models, which operate on digital data, humanoid robots must navigate and interact with the physical world, necessitating extensive real-world data collection and validation. Balzano pointed out that while humanoid robots are often marketed as versatile workers, they currently remain highly specialized machines disguised in human-like forms. He noted that significant advancements have been made in areas such as locomotion and perception, but the gap between demonstration and real-world application is substantial, often involving controlled environments and remote assistance. Looking ahead, the industry must focus on bridging this gap to enhance the reliability of humanoid robots. Balzano's insights underscore the importance of safety and data integrity in developing robots that can operate effectively in diverse environments. RoboticsTomorrow.com Oct 01, 2026Researchers at Singapore University of Technology and Design and MIT have developed ALBATROSS, a hybrid robot that combines aerial and aquatic capabilities. This innovative design mimics the natural descent of a maple seed and the swimming motion of a fish, allowing the robot to transition seamlessly from flying to sailing. In field trials, ALBATROSS demonstrated autonomous sailing after being deployed from a height of 150 meters. The significance of ALBATROSS lies in its ability to operate efficiently in both air and water without the need for heavy motors or complex systems. By utilizing a passive autorotation mechanism during descent, the robot reduces impact energy and ensures a soft landing. Once on the water, it transforms its wings into sails and employs a fish-inspired tail rudder for propulsion, achieving a remarkable 91 percent effective mass usage. Looking ahead, ALBATROSS's design showcases the potential of bio-inspired engineering to create lightweight, multifunctional robots. Future developments may include the integration of Reinforcement Learning algorithms for advanced navigation capabilities, enabling the robot to autonomously complete complex missions.
