Rollomatic Inc., based in Mundelein, Illinois, is the North American sales and service subsidiary of Rollomatic SA, a privately held Swiss machine-tool builder founded in 1989 by Michel Rollier and headquartered in Le Landeron, Switzerland, where it operates a 12,000-square-meter production facility.
Rollomatic designs CNC machines for grinding and laser-machining cutting tools, blanks, punches, inserts and boring bars. Its GrindSmart line of six-axis tool grinders processes rotary cutting tools from 0.03 mm to 32 mm in diameter in materials including high-strength steel, carbide and cobalt. Its ShapeSmart cylindrical grinders use a proprietary Pinch and Peel process to grind parts from 0.025 mm to 25 mm in diameter for unmanned production runs, and its LaserSmart systems use laser machining to cut ultra-hard materials such as polycrystalline diamond (PCD), CVD diamond, monocrystalline diamond and polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (PCBN). These machines are marketed together under a Smart Autonomous Grinding strategy that adds robotic part loading, automation and networked monitoring for unattended operation.
Rollomatic serves the medical, dental, aerospace, automotive and electric-vehicle, die and mold, punch, woodworking, electronics and semiconductor tooling industries, and operates a digital learning center to train customers on its equipment.
