Rittal LLC is the United States subsidiary of Rittal GmbH & Co. KG, the Germany-based enclosure manufacturer founded in 1961 and part of the Friedhelm Loh Group. The U.S. operation was established in 1981 and is headquartered in Schaumburg, Illinois, with a manufacturing center of excellence in Urbana, Ohio and distribution centers in Georgia, Texas and Nevada. Rittal builds industrial and IT enclosure systems used to house and protect the control, power and computing hardware behind factory automation, robotics cells and machinery.
Its product platform covers wall-mounted and free-standing enclosures, the VX25 large enclosure system, busbar-based power distribution, and climate control units including air conditioners, air-to-water heat exchangers and chillers that manage heat inside cabinets housing drives, PLCs and servo controllers. For IT and edge applications Rittal supplies server racks, containment and cooling for data centers and outdoor or hybrid deployments. The company pairs its hardware with engineering software through Eplan and automation systems via Rittal Automation Systems for wiring, machining and panel building, supporting the workflow from electrical design to assembled control panel. Rittal operates in more than 70 countries with manufacturing on multiple continents, and the U.S. business serves machine builders, system integrators, panel shops and industrial end users. For robotics and automation integrators, Rittal's role is supplying the standardized enclosure, power and thermal infrastructure that protects control electronics in demanding plant environments.
