Reis Robotics GmbH & Co. KG is a German industrial robot manufacturer and systems integrator headquartered at Walter-Reis-Straße 1, 63785 Obernburg am Main, Bavaria, Germany. The company was founded in 1957 by Walter Reis as a machine factory in Obernburg, making it one of the longest-established robot manufacturers in Germany. Reis Robotics has undergone multiple ownership changes: in 2013 KUKA AG acquired a 51% stake, and since July 2023 the company has been part of the family-owned industrial group Aretè Cocchi Technology (ACT) and FAI Holding AG, which revitalized the brand as an independent automation solutions provider.
The product portfolio covers articulated-arm robots, gantry robots, and specialized automation systems designed for demanding industrial environments. Core application domains include arc welding, laser processing (CO2 and fiber), laser welding, plasma cutting, handling and material transfer, and foundry automation. Signature products include the RV6L-CO2 and RV16L-CO2 laser robots, which integrate the complete beam guidance inside the robot arm via mirror systems, enabling 3D cutting and perforating without external beam conduits. The RV16L features a 2,300 mm reach and supports lasers from 200 to 600 W.
In addition to robots, Reis produces spotting and trimming presses and trimming tools for the foundry sector. The company historically employed around 700 staff (35% engineers) across three German subsidiaries and eight international subsidiaries, serving customers in automotive, rail vehicles, heavy construction machinery, aerospace, photovoltaics, and general manufacturing.
In March 2026, Reis Robotics signed a cooperation agreement with Comau to pursue advanced automation projects across multiple industries, combining Comau's robotics know-how with Reis's application expertise in welding and laser processing.
