ETH Zurich spin-off (2013, Bremgarten CHE); tablet app clinically validates upper-limb motor assessment for remote stroke and MS rehabilitation.
ReHaptix GmbH (also registered as ReHaptix AG) is a Swiss digital health startup and spin-off from ETH Zurich, incorporated in June 2013 and headquartered in Bremgarten AG, Switzerland (Isenlaufstrasse 12). The company was founded to commercialize research on objective, digital measurement of upper-limb motor impairments developed at ETH Zurich's robotics and sensorimotor systems groups.
ReHaptix's core product is a clinically validated mHealth application — the ReHaptix Tester — that runs on a standard tablet and enables precise, quantitative assessment of upper-limb motor function without specialized clinical equipment. The application administers standardized tests that measure muscle weakness, coordination, and fatigue levels in the hand and arm, generating objective scores that therapists and clinicians can use to track rehabilitation progress over time. The system is designed to serve patients with upper-limb impairments resulting from stroke, multiple sclerosis (MS), or Parkinson's disease.
A key design goal of the ReHaptix platform is enabling remote monitoring: patients can perform self-administered tests from home and share results directly with their healthcare providers, reducing the frequency of required in-clinic visits and enabling continuous tracking between appointments. The platform is intended to complement existing physiotherapy and occupational therapy programs rather than replace them, providing objective data to supplement clinician judgment.
ReHaptix partnered with Swiss digital health platform healthbank to integrate patient data management and privacy-compliant data sharing into its ecosystem. The company received grant funding and participated in Swiss accelerator programs including Venture Kick and Venturelab. As of 2026, ReHaptix operates with a very small team (approximately 1 employee) and remains an early-stage company. Its patient-facing platform is accessible at patient.rehaptix.com.
