"Sensing the next move."
Prophesee is a Paris-based developer of neuromorphic event-based vision sensors such as GenX320, plus cameras, evaluation kits and Metavision software.
Prophesee, originally founded as Chronocam in 2014 in Paris by Ryad Benosman, Bernard Gilly, Christoph Posch and Luca Verre, develops event-based (neuromorphic) vision technology. Instead of capturing full frames at a fixed rate, its sensors record only per-pixel changes in a scene, which the company says gives temporal precision equivalent to more than 10,000 frames per second, dynamic range above 120 dB and sensing power below 10 mW. The company is headquartered at 75 ter rue de Charonne, Paris, with offices in Grenoble and Shanghai, and is led by CEO Jean Ferre.
Its sensor range includes the GenX320 (320x320 pixels, 1/5-inch optical format, over 140 dB dynamic range, 36 microwatt ultra-low-power mode, MIPI and CPI interfaces) and four Metavision-based sensors in 13x13 mm LGA packages: IMX636 and IMX646 (1280x720 HD) and IMX637 and IMX647 (640x512 VGA). Prophesee partnered with Sony to produce an HD event-based sensor combining Sony's CMOS image sensor technology with Prophesee's Metavision pixel technology. Development tools include the EVK3 evaluation kit, a GenX320 starter kit for Raspberry Pi 5, the Embra HD exploration kit and the Metavision Intelligence Suite software; the Hearth platform provides algorithms, AI components and an application library.
Prophesee also offers camera systems: Mantara and Mantara Lite for ground-based detection and tracking of drones and other aerial threats, and Nexara for high-speed industrial inspection and infrastructure monitoring, plus integration and custom design services.
The company reports around 100 patents, over 300 academic publications built on its technology and 66 international recognitions; it employs around 65 people from 16 nationalities. It has raised nearly EUR 150 million since inception, including a EUR 50 million Series C closed in 2022 with Prosperity7 Ventures. Investors named by the company include iBionext, Renault Group, Intel Capital, Bosch Ventures, Prosperity7 Ventures, Hui Capital, Supernova Invest, 360 Capital, Critical Path, JACL Venture and the European Investment Bank. Partners include Sony, MVTec, FRAMOS and LUCID Vision Labs.
