Pierce Aerospace
Fishers, Indiana drone-safety firm founded 2016; makes B1 Remote ID beacons and YR1/R2S/R2T receivers used on the Defense Innovation Unit's Blue UAS list.
Pierce Aerospace is a privately held aerospace and IoT company headquartered in Fishers, Indiana, founded in 2016 by Aaron Pierce, Gary Bullock, Larry Howard and Michael Collins. The company began developing drone Remote Identification (Remote ID) technology in 2017 and drew early backing from Techstars, the Purdue Research Foundation and the State of Indiana.
Its hardware line includes the B1 Remote ID Beacon, a module with roughly eight hours of battery life that broadcasts an aircraft's identity and location to meet FAA Remote ID requirements, and the YR1, R2S and R2T receivers, built respectively as a flagship, a solar-powered fixed unit, and a tactical mobile unit for detecting Remote ID signals. The B1 Beacon has been accepted onto the Defense Innovation Unit's Blue UAS Framework as a Remote ID module. On the software side, Flight Portal 3D is a browser-based application that displays Remote ID data in a three-dimensional airspace view, with integrations built for command-and-control and counter-UAS systems including TAK/ATAK, FAAD C2, Solipsys and Flight Horizon.
Pierce Aerospace has held Small Business Innovation Research contracts with the U.S. Air Force, the Department of Homeland Security and NASA since 2018, and its Remote ID systems have been deployed at large public events including the Super Bowl and World Cup as well as at Core 30 U.S. airports.
