PIA Automation Holding GmbH is the central German holding entity of the PIA Group, a globally operating industrial automation specialist registered at Amtsgericht Schweinfurt (HRB 7605). Its registered address is Theodor-Jopp-Straße 6, 97616 Bad Neustadt an der Saale, Bavaria, Germany — the same address as operating subsidiary PIA Automation Bad Neustadt GmbH. The holding company was incorporated in 2017 to consolidate European automation assets assembled through acquisitions led by Joyson group affiliates, which brought together Preh IMA Automation (from IMA Automation Amberg, acquired 2014) and M&R Automation (Austria).
The group's ultimate parent is Ningbo PIA Automation Holding Corp., listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange STAR Market under ticker 688306 following an IPO in 2022. Management of PIA Automation Holding GmbH is led by CEO Shilai Xie, CSO/CTO Thomas Ernst, and CFO Ran Tao. Under the holding structure, the PIA Group operates 12 locations globally: Bad Neustadt, Amberg, Esslingen, and Erfurt in Germany; Grambach in Austria; Zagreb in Croatia; Shanghai, Ningbo, and Suzhou in China; Toronto in Canada; Evansville, Indiana in the USA; and León, Mexico.
Worldwide headcount is approximately 1,800 employees and the group has delivered over 8,800 production systems across a combined 63-year operational heritage (tracing to the 1963 founding of predecessor Evana).
