PATS Indoor Drone Solutions B.V. (PATS) is a Dutch agtech company based at Delftechpark in Delft and a spin-out of Delft University of Technology. It was co-founded by Bram Tijmons (CEO), Sjoerd Tijmons and Kevin van Hecke, a team of drone, vision and AI specialists. The company started by developing small drones to intercept flying insect pests in greenhouses and has since added pest detection and tracking products.
PATS-C is an automated insect monitoring camera that watches the airspace above the crop and each night counts and classifies flying insects by size, speed and flight pattern, feeding a dashboard for pest-pressure tracking. Trap-Eye, developed with Biobest, captures images of sticky traps to count insects automatically. PATS-Vinder and PATS-Kalendar are software tools that predict pest outbreaks and support intervention planning. PATS-X, listed as coming soon, is a palm-sized, bat-like micro drone that the camera system steers into the flight path of target pests such as moths; its propellers kill the insect on impact and it returns to a charging platform. Early versions were used in gerbera and chrysanthemum cultivation.
PATS reports more than 970 hectares monitored and use by hundreds of growers in more than 25 countries; greenhouse producers shown as partners include Lans, Bosch Komkommers, Jansen Paprika, Oudijk, Redstar, LG Flowers, Seasun and Nini. An in-house facility in Delft can produce more than 1,000 sensor systems per month.
In 2019 PATS received EUR 250,000 from the UNIIQ investment fund. In October 2025 it raised EUR 2.7 million in seed funding from Division Q, Percival Participations, Delft Enterprises and a group of technology and horticulture investors. The company has also received European Innovation Council co-funding from the European Union.
