ONDEX Automation is a factory-automation systems-integrator platform headquartered in the Chicago, Illinois area, formed in November 2023 by private equity firm Shore Capital Partners around founding partner LIVE Automation, a controls integrator established in 2001. Justin Kerr serves as chief executive of the platform.
ONDEX delivers design engineering, process-automation and PLC-controls integration, SCADA and HMI development, manufacturing execution system (MES) implementation, and machine-vision programming for manufacturers in food and beverage, life sciences, medical device, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, aerospace and defense, power generation, pulp and paper, and water and wastewater treatment industries.
Since its formation, ONDEX has grown through seven acquisitions: LIVE Automation (2001), Automation & Control Inc. (ACI, 1995, New Jersey), NeoMatrix (2003, New Hampshire/Massachusetts), Vision and Control Systems (machine vision), PlantOPS Consulting (MES consulting), The Fitch Company (process control, acquired May 2026), and ROI Engineering (process-control integration, acquired September 2026). The platform operates across Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Maine, and California, and belongs to A3, the Association for Advancing Automation.
