Nanjing Bio-inspired Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., known by its brand name NBIT, was founded in 2012 by Dai Zhendong, a professor at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. The company is one of a small number of Chinese manufacturers that design and produce multi-dimensional force and torque sensors in-house, covering six-axis, three-axis and two-axis configurations. NBIT positions its six-dimensional force sensors as enabling components for humanoid robots, allowing a robot to walk on uneven terrain, grasp objects without damaging them, and interact physically with people without causing harm.

The product range spans several series aimed at different applications. The GLH series is an aluminum-alloy sensor built for compact installations such as surgical robots and 3C electronics assembly; one variant, model GLH91003AAO, is rated for Fx/Fy loads of 50 N, an Fz load of 100 N, and Mx/My/Mz torques of 2 Nm each, with nonlinearity below 0.3percent of full scale and IP65 ingress protection. The MLL series is a higher-rigidity aluminum sensor intended for laboratory and scientific-instrument use, the GTT series uses a titanium-alloy ring structure for force-controlled polishing and assembly, and the GGT series uses an alloy-steel ring structure for industrial robot base mounting and collision detection. NBIT also produces torque sensors, friction-and-wear testing machines, and motion-dynamics testing platforms, and holds more than 24 authorized patents along with ISO 9001 certification. Its products have been exported to customers in the United States, Germany, Denmark and Sweden, and the company maintains a technical partnership with a provincial key laboratory at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

NBIT remains a small company financially: it reported CNY 2.1 million in revenue and a CNY 5.7 million net loss for 2024, and CNY 163,800 in revenue with a CNY 2.8 million net loss for the first half of 2025, with net assets of about CNY 9.9 million as of April 2025. On August 11, 2025, Shanghai-listed private equity firm Jiuding Investment (SSE: 600053) announced a deal to acquire a 53.29 percent controlling stake in NBIT for CNY 213 million, reducing founder Dai Zhendong's stake to roughly 37.5 percent and making him the second-largest shareholder. The transaction reflects capital-market interest in Chinese suppliers of core components for humanoid robots. As a result of the deal, NBIT is classified as a subsidiary of its new controlling shareholder rather than as an independent, self-funded company.
