Swiss pioneer in 3D time-of-flight camera technology, developer of the SwissRanger series; acquired by Heptagon in 2014 and subsequently integrated into AMS AG.
Mesa Imaging AG was a Zurich, Switzerland-based company founded in 2006 as a spin-off from the Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnology (CSEM). The company commercialized time-of-flight (ToF) 3D range imaging technology, producing the SwissRanger camera series, including the SR4000, which delivered real-time 3D depth maps for robotics, industrial inspection, people-tracking, and autonomous navigation. SwissRanger cameras were widely adopted in research and mobile robot perception.
In 2014, Mesa Imaging was acquired by Heptagon, a precision optics and packaging company. Heptagon was subsequently acquired by AMS AG in 2017, integrating Mesa's ToF pixel technology into AMS's broader optical sensing portfolio.
