Company Overview

LS2N (Laboratoire des Sciences du Numerique de Nantes) is a public research laboratory in Nantes created in 2017 from the merger of the IRCCyN and LINA laboratories. It is backed by Nantes Universite, Centrale Nantes, IMT Atlantique, CNRS and Inria. The lab has 534 members, including about 250 teacher-researchers and 185 PhD students, organised in 20 research teams across five research sites: Centrale Nantes, IMT Atlantique La Chantrerie, IUT Nantes Carquefou, the Faculty of Sciences at Lombarderie and Polytech Nantes.

Robotics is concentrated in the Robotique, Procedes, Calcul (RPC) pole. ARMEN (Autonomie des Robots et Maitrise des interactions avec l'ENvironnement) studies robots that interact with their environment, including perception, navigation and cooperation. ReV (Robotique et Vivant) models living systems to design soft, frugal robots that interact safely with humans, and its work includes cable-driven exoskeletons, rehabilitation robotics and upper-limb and elbow-wrist exoskeletons. RoMas (Robots and Machines for Manufacturing, Society and Services) develops robots that assist workers, builders and surgeons, including robotised 3D printing of large structures and the TIRREX-XXL large-space robotics platform. OGRE applies guaranteed nonlinear computation to control and robotics. Other poles cover systems design and control (CODEx, CPS3, real-time systems), data science and decision, signals, images and ergonomics, and software and distributed systems. Application areas named by the lab include industry of the future, energy, life sciences, vehicles and mobility, digital cultures and open education.
