Lift Labs was a San Francisco-based medical robotics startup founded in 2012 by Anupam Pathak, a University of Michigan Ph.D. graduate. The company developed Liftware, a stabilizing utensil handle that uses an onboard accelerometer and actuator to cancel more than 70 percent of hand tremors caused by Parkinson's disease or essential tremor, restoring eating independence for patients. Liftware launched commercially in December 2013 and received NIH funding support.

In September 2014, Google acquired Lift Labs and integrated the team into Google X's life sciences division, which subsequently became Verily Life Sciences.
