KNDS Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG, headquartered in Munich, Germany, is the German entity of KNDS Group, formed in 2015 through the combination of Krauss-Maffei Wegmann and France's Nexter Systems. The Munich business traces its industrial lineage to Joseph Anton Ritter von Maffei's 1838 locomotive works and took its present legal form in 1999. KNDS Group reported revenue of 4.4 billion euros and about 11,000 employees for 2025.
KNDS Deutschland manufactures the Leopard 2 main battle tank, Puma infantry fighting vehicle, Boxer and Dingo wheeled platforms, PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzer, Fennek reconnaissance vehicle, and Gepard air defense system. Alongside armored vehicles, KNDS Group markets an unmanned ground vehicle portfolio under the KNDS name: the THeMIS tracked platform, developed with Estonia's Milrem Robotics, carries mission modules of up to 650 kilograms swapped in about 10 minutes; the ULTRO is an 800-kilogram electric wheeled UGV with 8 to 12 hours of autonomy; and the CENTURIO X20 is a remotely operated fire-support platform reaching 35 kilometers per hour, offered in combat, ordnance-reconnaissance, and CBRN-detection variants. The NERVA micro-robot, for reconnaissance, is being introduced to the German market.
KNDS presented this unmanned portfolio at Eurosatory in 2024 and 2026, stating a goal of becoming Europe's top supplier of unmanned ground vehicles.
