JBT Corporation, now JBT Marel Corporation since January 2025, is a Chicago-based industrial automation company with roots tracing to John Bean's 1884 spray pump invention. Spun off from FMC Technologies in 2008, JBT focuses on food processing machinery and automated guided vehicle (AGV) systems. Its Automated Systems division offers a broad range of laser-guided and vision-guided AGVs and autonomous mobile robots for material handling in food and beverage, automotive, manufacturing, and hospital environments.
JBT pushed AGV innovation with its first wire-guided vehicle in 1981 and has since served major customers including Tyson Foods, Nestlé, and Kraft Heinz. Following its acquisition of Marel in 2025, the company employs approximately 5,200 people globally.
