IDEKO is a private, independent research and technology center specializing in advanced manufacturing and machine-tool technologies, based in Elgoibar in the Basque Country of northern Spain. The center marked its 40th anniversary in 2025, placing its founding around 1985. IDEKO operates as the R&D center of DANOBATGROUP, a Spanish machine-tool manufacturing group, within MONDRAGON Corporation, and is a member of the Basque Research and Technology Alliance.
The center organizes its applied research into four groups: precision design and engineering, manufacturing processes, dynamics and control, and ICTs and automation. Its work covers machine-tool design, precision machining, additive and subtractive manufacturing processes, structural dynamics and vibration and chatter suppression, sensing, digital twins, and industrial automation applied to production equipment. IDEKO holds the HR Excellence in Research recognition and reported record revenue of 14.5 million euros in 2025, up from 12.9 million euros in 2024 and 11 million euros in 2023.
IDEKO partners with industrial and academic organizations on European and national research projects; recent collaborations include a joint research facility opened with Renishaw in January 2025 and an aerospace research agreement signed with ITP Aero in December 2024, extending its work into the machine-tool and aerospace sectors.
