IDEALworks GmbH is an autonomous mobile robot (AMR) manufacturer headquartered at Riesstrasse 22, 80992 Munich, Germany. Founded in November 2020 as a wholly owned subsidiary of the BMW Group, the company commercializes mobile robotics technology developed for BMW's own intralogistics operations. In April 2026, IDEALworks established IDEALworks Inc., its first U.S. legal entity, headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina, signaling international expansion. IDEALworks' core product is the iw.hub, a CE-certified autonomous mobile robot designed for heavy industrial intralogistics. The iw.hub measures 1,440 x 641 x 222 mm, weighs 175 kg, carries payloads up to 1,000 kg (2,200 lbs), and travels at speeds up to 2.2 m/s, making it one of the fastest high-payload AMRs available.
It runs on a 48 V battery with a minimum runtime of 8 hours and communicates via the VDA 5050 open standard. Complementing the hardware, IDEALworks offers iw.os, a modular robotics operating system that handles autonomy, navigation, and task execution on-board each robot, and AnyFleet, an intelligent fleet management platform that orchestrates multi-vendor AMR fleets through the VDA 5050 interface, providing real-time monitoring of robots and IoT devices. IDEALworks targets automotive assembly plants, warehouse operators, and general manufacturing facilities seeking to automate pallet and cart transport workflows.
