Hummel AG traces its founding to 1948, when Anton Hummel Metallwarenfabrik was established in Alt-Simonswald, Germany, to produce molded turned parts; the company later moved its headquarters to Denzlingen and remains an independent, family-controlled manufacturer. Its headquarters sits at Lise-Meitner-Strasse 2 in Denzlingen, with a dedicated production facility in adjacent Waldkirch.
The company manufactures cable entry and connection technology: cable glands including EMC-shielded, explosion-proof, and lead-free variants; circular connectors in the M12, M16, M23, and M40 series; conduit and cable protection systems; and components for heating and drinking-water building technology. Hummel registered a patent for a packing gland connection in 1971, entered plastics production in 1972, patented a rotating vent valve in 1976, and began producing M23 round connectors in 1999, describing a vertically integrated process from development and tool making through injection molding, electroplating, and assembly. Its components serve industrial automation, sensor technology, robotics, and machine building.
Hummel employs approximately 600 people worldwide and operates subsidiaries in France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Poland, China, India, South Korea, and Brazil, supported by a network of sales partners in additional markets.
