Humatics Corporation is a US-based microlocation technology company and a 2015 spinout of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, founded by MIT professor David Mindell and technology veteran Gary Cohen.
Recognized as the inventor and leader in industrial ultra-wideband (UWB), Humatics builds microlocation systems that fuse proprietary industrial-grade UWB, sensors, and data to let people and machines precisely locate, navigate, and collaborate in the built world. Its Spatial Intelligence Platform combines RF beacons with software for applications including human-robot interaction, autonomous vehicles, drones, precision crane positioning, tool tracking on manufacturing lines, and vehicle tracking and platooning. The KinetIQ product family includes the KinetIQ 300, which localizes mobile objects in 2D and 3D with up to 2 cm of precision at ranges to 500 meters; the KinetIQ 100, which measures distances with 2 cm precision at up to 500 meters; and KinetIQ OS, a spatial-intelligence software suite providing provisioning, monitoring, data analytics, and an extensible API. Humatics expanded its capabilities through the acquisition of 5D Robotics and Time Domain, and has built a strong position in rail and transit positioning in addition to industrial automation and manufacturing. The company is headquartered in Waltham, Massachusetts, with operations in Huntsville, Alabama, and is backed by venture funding raised across multiple rounds to scale its microlocation systems.
