HBK, formally Hottinger Bruel & Kjaer A/S, is a precision test-and-measurement company formed on January 1, 2019, through the merger of Germany's HBM (Hottinger Baldwin Messtechnik) and Denmark's Bruel & Kjaer Sound & Vibration, each with more than 80 years of history. HBK is owned by UK-based Spectris plc, with registered offices at Teknikerbyen 28 in Virum, Denmark, and Im Tiefen See 45 in Darmstadt, Germany.
The product range covers load cells and industrial weighing systems, transducers for acceleration, pressure, displacement, force, torque and temperature, data-acquisition hardware, vibration and durability test equipment, acoustic and NVH measurement systems, and electric-power test gear for validating motors and power electronics. Software includes nCode and ReliaSoft for fatigue and reliability analysis. The brand family also retains MicroStrain (wireless sensing and inertial measurement) and Discom (winding and insulation test technology), alongside the HBM and Bruel & Kjaer names.
HBK supplies calibrated, traceable measurement instrumentation to test labs and engineers in automotive, aerospace, energy, rail and defense rather than manufacturing end products itself. In robotics, its load cells serve as tactile-sensing components inside end-effectors; its PW22i load cell was integrated by French integrator Sileane into a gripper reported in mid-2026.
