Tokyo logistics-tech firm behind the GWES warehouse execution system and PEER 100 AMR; former Japan distributor of GreyOrange Butler
GROUND Inc. is a Japanese logistics technology company founded in April 2015 by Keisuke Miyata, previously head of the logistics arms of Askul and Rakuten. It is based at Bizflex Kanda 10F, 1-3-33 Kanda-Sudacho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, with capital of JPY 100 million as of June 2024. Its stated aim is fully autonomous logistics facility operation.
The core product is GWES (GROUND Warehouse Execution System), an in-house system that manages and optimises a logistics facility as a whole, integrating material handling equipment, robots and existing systems. Around it the company sells digital integration work, consulting and engineering covering logistics strategy, operational redesign and facility construction, a resource-allocation platform called PEER (Platform for Effective Execution of Resources), and a short GPIM DX maturity self-assessment. An earlier AI inventory and resource analysis product was marketed as DyAS.
Its mobile robot is the PEER 100 autonomous collaborative robot, deployed from 2025 at Nippon Express as part of a barrier-free warehouse project where three units carry goods unmanned from picking stations to the shipping area; GWES has been linked to the NX Group's global standard WMS since 2024. From 2016 GROUND was the Japanese distributor and integrator of GreyOrange's Butler goods-to-person AMR, with reported installations at Nitori (79 units), Daiwa House DPL Ichikawa (39 units) and Trusco Nakayama, and about 226 Butler units contracted by 2018. It also prototyped an AMR with HIT Robot Group of China.
In 2026 GROUND received the Field Innovation Special Award in the Japan Institute of Logistics Systems Logistics Grand Prize for a project with Saishunkan Pharmaceutical, Saishunkan Systems, BIPROGY and Tactech linking AMRs with digital picking systems.
