Foxglove is a US robotics data platform providing visualization, data management, and debugging tools for physical AI and autonomous systems development.
Foxglove is a San Francisco-based company founded in 2021 by Adrian Macneil and Roman Shtylman, both former engineers at Cruise. The company builds a multimodal data platform purpose-built for robotics and physical AI development teams. Its core product, Foxglove Studio, is an open-source visualization and debugging tool that supports ROS 1, ROS 2, MCAP, Protobuf, JSON, and FlatBuffers data formats, enabling engineers to inspect sensor data including 3D point clouds, camera video, GNSS tracks, audio, and time-series metrics in a single unified workspace.
Foxglove also developed and maintains MCAP, an open container file format for multimodal log data, now widely adopted in the robotics industry as an alternative to ROS bag files. The platform offers over 20 built-in visualization panels, customizable layouts, and supports connections to live robots via WebSocket, Rosbridge, or the Foxglove Agent.
On the data management side, Foxglove provides a cloud platform for indexing robot data by device, time, and topic, with configurable retention policies, data pipeline integrations, and access via UI, API, or CLI. Security features include TLS 1.2 encryption in transit, AES-256 encryption at rest, and SSO/SAML authentication.
The company has raised over $58 million in total funding, including a $3.7 million seed round, a $15 million Series A in October 2022, and a $40 million Series B in November 2025 led by Bessemer Venture Partners with participation from Eclipse and Amplify Partners. Foxglove serves robotics teams across autonomous vehicles, humanoid robots, drones, and industrial robot applications.
