FORMIC Transportsysteme GmbH, founded in 2019 as a Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) spin-off, develops modular swarm transport systems for moving heavy and bulky industrial loads. The system consists of a fleet of compact autonomous vehicles that synchronize to lift and move loads in formation, controlled by a single operator. Compact vehicles (630mm diameter) carry up to 3.5 tons each, while powerful variants (925mm diameter) carry 5 tons each, achieving swarm capacities up to 75 tons.
Applications span factory floor relocation, production plant replacement, and heavy industrial transport. Supported by EXIST startup grants from Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and KIT Founders Forge.
