"The Future of Fresh Fruit Harvest"
Israeli agtech company developing the FFRobot, a patented multi-arm automated fresh fruit harvester for apples, citrus, pears, peaches, and cherries.
FFRobotics (also known as Fresh Fruit Robotics Ltd.) is an Israeli agricultural technology company founded in 2014, headquartered in Bnei Dror, Israel, and co-founded by CEO Avi Kahani and CTO Yoav Koster. The company has developed the FFRobot, a patented multi-arm robotic fresh fruit harvester that emulates the human hand-picking process for efficient, cost-effective, and bruise-free fruit harvesting. The FFRobot features a twelve-arm multi-axis configuration using a proprietary gripper to pick harvest-ready fruit from trees and transfer it to an automated conveyor delivering fruit to 800-lb harvest bins.
Advanced AI and computer vision software identifies and classifies fruit per pre-set grower criteria, distinguishing harvest-ready produce from damaged, diseased, or unripe fruit. The system is engineered to be modifiable for multiple fresh fruit types including apples, citrus, pears, peaches, and cherries, enabling use across multiple harvest seasons. Commercial trials have been conducted in Washington State orchards with Stemilt Growers.
The project has received funding under the European Union Horizon 2020 programme (grant agreement No. 954038). FFRobotics claims 10x productivity improvement compared to human pickers.
