"Extending Human Capability Beyond Physical Presence"
Reading, UK firm founded 2019 whose AMAS VR teleoperation platform drives robots and collects training data; raised GBP 2.6m pre-Series A in 2026.
Extend Robotics is a British robotics software company that builds immersive virtual-reality teleoperation for robot arms and humanoids and sells robotic work on an outcome basis. It was founded in 2019, is registered in England as company number 12171849 with a registered office in Covent Garden, London, and operates from The Maltings on Fobney Street in Reading, Berkshire. Its founding team combined technical talent from Imperial College London with commercial experience in telecoms and energy; Dr. Chang Liu is chief executive.
The core product is AMAS, an extended-reality platform that lets an operator wearing a VR headset control a remote robot in real time with low latency. AMAS SaaS bundles real-time teleoperation, collection, management, visualisation and export of data from dexterous human-robot interaction, AI model training and inference, and cloud-based simulation, with a web console at console.extendrobotics.com. AMAS Pro is marketed as a packaged solution. The design idea is that teleoperation sessions double as training data, so tasks can move from remote control towards autonomy over time. AMAS is part of the Universal Robots UR+ ecosystem and has been listed by the UK distributor RARUK; the company has also shown haptic and XR work with SenseGlove, QuarkXR and NVIDIA, and states that its core technology is patent-protected.
In 2026 the company shifted towards a Result-as-a-Service model in which manufacturers pay for completed robotic work rather than buying robots outright. In late September 2026 it raised GBP 2.6 million in pre-Series A funding led by Skyworks Venture Capital Fund with Neo Venture Europe and Zip Capital, reporting 35 subscription customers across sectors including agriculture and manufacturing. The funds are earmarked for expansion in the UK and Europe and for a distributed network of remote operators. It took part in the Google DeepMind accelerator programme in 2026.
Extend Robotics also resells hardware as an official distributor for ROBOTIS, AgileX, OnRobot, Dobot, Robotiq, UFACTORY, AgiBot, Unitree and Universal Robots, and was named an official integrator for Unitree Robotics in January 2026. Its industry pages cover manufacturing, agriculture, offshore energy, healthcare, space and nuclear. Published deployments include grape harvesting at Saffron Grange Vineyard, robotic learning trials at Leyland Trucks in Preston, radioactive-material handling demonstrations using SenseGlove haptics, a teleoperated pharmacy demonstration and a Future Zone at BT's London headquarters. It is a member of the Agri-OpenCore consortium and was named a JUMPSTARTER Top 30 start-up in 2026.
