exoIQ GmbH is a German exoskeleton manufacturer headquartered in Hamburg, Germany, with production at Illertissen (Bavaria). Founded in 2017 by Prof. Dr. Robert Weidner and Dr. Bernward Otten — researchers who had been working on exoskeletons since late 2014 as part of the interdisciplinary smartASSIST junior research group at Helmut Schmidt University, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research — exoIQ was created to translate academic exoskeleton research into practical, ergonomic tools for industrial workplaces.
In 2018 the company entered a development partnership with TTS Tooltechnic Systems Group (parent company of Festool), which made exoIQ the dedicated exoskeleton development center within the TTS Group. All products carry a 'Made in Germany' designation: developed in Hamburg, manufactured in Illertissen.
exoIQ currently offers three products. The S700 Active Shoulder Exoskeleton, launched in 2023, is marketed as the world's first mass-produced active shoulder exoskeleton for industrial workplace use. It provides up to 15 kg of active power assistance to relieve neck and shoulder muscles during overhead and chest-height work in automotive assembly, manufacturing, production, and craft trades. The B900 Active Back Exoskeleton, launched in 2025, targets logistics and production workers who lift, carry, and operate in forward-leaning postures; it delivers up to 30 kg of active support while preserving maximum freedom of movement and can be ready for use in seconds. The B100 Back Support is a passive soft orthosis for postural support during standing, sitting, and kneeling tasks, designed to be invisible under work clothing and combinable with other exoIQ devices.
exoIQ also provides an Ergonomics App to track and analyse worker strain data. Application sectors include automotive industry, general industry, logistics, production, and craft trades.
