Company Overview

Computar is a manufacturer of precision optics and imaging lenses operating in the United States as the Computar Optics Group of CBC America, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Japan-based CBC Group. With more than 50 years of lens manufacturing experience and a foundation in Japanese optical engineering, Computar designs and produces a broad catalog of lenses for machine vision and industrial imaging.

Its product lines include megapixel varifocal, megapixel monofocal and megapixel zoom lenses, varifocal and monofocal lenses, motorized and telecentric zoom lenses, S-mount board lenses, fisheye lenses, and specialty optics covering SWIR imaging, thermal imaging, and remotely controlled plug-and-play LensConnect lenses, plus housings, adapters, filters and extenders. Computar serves machine vision and robotics, food and pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, unmanned autonomous vehicles, medical and life sciences, government and defense, security, intelligent transportation systems, and OEM/custom applications. For robotics and automation customers the company supplies high-resolution lenses used in perception and machine-vision systems for inspection, guidance and identification. Computar provides custom optical solutions spanning planning, product design, industrial design and manufacturing, supported by technical teams on the US East and West coasts and a global inventory and distribution network. The Computar brand is a registered trademark of the CBC Group, which operates more than 40 offices and manufacturing facilities worldwide. CBC America relocated its US warehouse operations to Carson, California.

The company also publishes technical guides, calculators and model-coding tools to support lens selection and integration.
