CODESYS Corporation is the North American division of the CODESYS Group, based in Beverly, Massachusetts, providing sales, technical support, consulting and training across the United States, Canada and Mexico under president Markus Bachmann. The CODESYS Group was founded in 1994 as 3S-Smart Software Solutions GmbH by Dieter Hess and Manfred Werner and is headquartered in Kempten, Germany.
At the core of the platform is the CODESYS Development System, a manufacturer-independent engineering tool built on the IEC 61131-3 standard for programming PLCs, PACs, ECUs and building controllers. Around this tool, CODESYS offers a soft PLC and virtual-runtime system, safety controllers, HMI and visualization tools including WebVisu, fieldbus and industrial Ethernet communication, OPC UA and IIoT connectivity, motion, CNC and PLCopen-certified robotics functions, redundancy, and the cloud-based CODESYS Automation Server. Device manufacturers embed the CODESYS runtime directly into their own controller hardware and define its functionality through product options.
The ecosystem spans more than 1,000 device types from over 500 manufacturers and reaches tens of thousands of end users worldwide; the CODESYS Group holds DIN ISO 27001 certification for information security.
