Japan-based Clarion Lifecycle Solutions supplies dashcams, camera systems, and forklift safety electronics for commercial vehicles under the Clarion name.
Clarion Co., Ltd. was founded in Tokyo in December 1940 as Hakusan Wireless Electric Company, renamed Teikoku Dempa in 1943, and adopted the Clarion brand in 1970 as it grew into a maker of car audio, navigation, and in-vehicle communication equipment. The company became a Hitachi Group subsidiary in December 2006, and Faurecia acquired it in 2019, folding its cockpit-electronics business into the separately operating Faurecia Clarion Electronics Co., Ltd.
The Clarion name today is also used by Clarion Lifecycle Solutions Co., Ltd., a Forvia-affiliated business that supplies commercial-vehicle electronics rather than passenger-car infotainment. Its product lines include digital-tachograph-integrated drive recorders and dashcams, multi-camera monitoring systems with displays and cabling, collision-detection and warning-light equipment, bus destination-sign and public-address systems, and AI-based detection and operation-support systems for forklifts. The company also runs cloud-based fleet-management and driver alcohol-check services for commercial-vehicle operators.
Reported customers include transport operator Yamato, crane and lift-truck manufacturer TADANO, Hitachi Construction Machinery, telecommunications carrier KDDI, and insurer Aioi Nissay Dowa.
