Canada's federal space agency founded in 1989, developer of Canadarm and Dextre space robotics systems for the International Space Station.
The Canadian Space Agency (CSA), established in 1989 and headquartered at the John H. Chapman Space Centre in Longueuil, Quebec, is Canada's federal government agency responsible for space exploration, space science, and satellite programs. CSA is internationally recognized for its robotics contributions: it developed Canadarm for U.S. Space Shuttles, Canadarm2 (a 17.6-metre robotic arm) for the International Space Station, and Dextre, a two-armed dexterous robot used for station maintenance.
The agency operates the Robotics Mission Control Centre at its Longueuil headquarters to command and monitor these systems. CSA also funds research in Earth observation, space astronomy, and human spaceflight, and manages Canada's contribution to the Lunar Gateway program under the Artemis initiative.
