Blueye Robotics was founded in 2015 as a spinoff from the NTNU Centre for Autonomous Marine Operations and Systems (AMOS) in Trondheim, Norway, by Erik Dyrkoren, Martin Ludvigsen, Christine Spiten, and Erik Haugane. The company designs, manufactures, and supports professional remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) for routine subsea inspection. Its product lineup — the Pioneer (2019), Pro (2020), X3, X3 Ultra, and X7 — features sub-9 kg platforms with up to 305 m depth rating, modular payload ports, and the open Blunux operating system supporting sonar, manipulator, and sensor integrations.
Blueye ROVs are used in aquaculture, maritime inspection, defense, utilities, and public safety across more than 60 countries. All hardware is designed, built, and supported in Norway.
