"Moving beyond limitations"
Swedish developer of soft robotic exoskeleton gloves for industrial ergonomics and medical rehabilitation.
BioServo Technologies, founded in 2006 and headquartered in Kista, Stockholm, Sweden, is a global pioneer in soft exoskeleton technology for the hand. The company's proprietary Soft Extra Muscle (SEM) technology powers its two main product lines: Ironhand, a wearable soft robotic glove for industrial workers that augments grip strength and reduces the risk of repetitive strain injuries, and Carbonhand, a rehabilitation device for individuals with reduced grip function due to spinal cord injury, stroke, ALS, MS, or orthopedic conditions. BioServo co-developed Ironhand with NASA and General Motors, incorporating the Robo-Glove technology.
Ironhand received the NASA Commercial Invention of the Year Award in 2020. The company was founded through collaboration between the Royal Institute of Technology and Karolinska University Hospital.
