Bihl+Wiedemann GmbH is an owner-operated German manufacturer of AS-Interface automation and safety components, founded in 1992 by Jochen Bihl and Bernhard Wiedemann and headquartered in Mannheim, Germany.
The company's ASi Master became the first product of its kind to receive an AS-International e.V. certificate, in 1995. Its product range covers ASi masters and gateways for PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, and EtherCAT networks, AS-Interface input/output and analog modules, safety monitors, emergency-stop and speed-monitoring modules, IO-Link masters, and the ASIMON360 and ASi Control Tools360 configuration software. Bihl+Wiedemann introduced the first ASi-5 devices in 2019, extending data-transmission speed and IO-Link integration, and followed with the first ASi-5 Safety devices in 2022, which combine multiple safe and non-safe signals under a single network address. Supported safety protocols include PROFIsafe, CIP Safety, and Safety over EtherCAT.
The Mannheim headquarters holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 50001 certification. Bihl+Wiedemann operates subsidiaries in the United States, Turkey, Denmark, and China, with sales partners in more than 30 countries, supplying automation components to manufacturers across the consumer and capital-goods sectors.
