BEA Sensors Americas is the North and South American subsidiary of the BEA Group, a sensor manufacturer originally founded in Liege, Belgium in 1965. The Americas operation was established in 1987 and is headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (100 Enterprise Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15275), USA. BEA designs and manufactures sensing solutions for the safety and activation of automated systems. Its primary markets include pedestrian automatic door systems (sliding, swing, and revolving doors), industrial door and gate systems, vehicle barriers and access control, escalators and moving walkways, transportation infrastructure, and factory and logistics automation.
For robotics and logistics automation, BEA offers a range of laser scanner products directly relevant to AGV and AMR deployments. The LZR-VISIOSCAN NAV is a compact 2D laser scanner for accurate navigation of automatic forklifts and AMRs, using laser time-of-flight technology with 275-degree coverage. The LZR-VISIOSCAN AC is a companion model for anti-collision and area monitoring on AGVs and AMRs, designed for industrial environments. The LZR-MICROSCAN T is a laser presence sensor used in door and industrial applications. These products complement BEA's broad portfolio of microwave Doppler radar sensors, passive infrared sensors, and active infrared safety beams.
BEA's sensor technologies span Doppler-effect radar for motion detection, active and passive infrared for safety detection, and laser time-of-flight for precise distance and area measurement. The company serves retail, automotive, hospital, warehousing, airport, office, and manufacturing customers globally.
