"World of Sorting Technology"
Pijnacker, Netherlands fruit and vegetable sorting equipment maker founded 1966; builds grading and packing lines sold in more than 50 countries.
Aweta is a fresh produce sorting and packing equipment manufacturer headquartered in Pijnacker, Netherlands. Adrianus Wilhelmus Tas founded the company in 1966 in Nootdorp, South Holland, building his first mechanical sorting machine to help Dutch vegetable growers separate produce by size. The company still designs and builds its grading and packing lines in-house for fruit, vegetables and flowers.
The product line covers sorting and packing machinery for apples, avocados, citrus, cucumbers, kiwifruit, mangoes, pears, peppers, stone fruit and tomatoes. Its Aweta Vision system uses hyperspectral imaging and deep-learning software to measure shape, size and color and to flag external defects; Inscan Pulse assesses internal quality, ripeness and physiological disorders; AFS Sense measures avocado and mango firmness through impact and acoustic testing. The FlowMaster interface configures sorting runs by article and reports quality distribution in real time, and an ERP-linked plant control system provides track-and-trace across the packhouse.
Aweta's equipment operates in more than 50 countries through a network of dealers and service partners, with customers including Agrintesa, Nature's Pride and Mucci Farms. In 2019 the company moved into a newly built, near energy-neutral facility in Pijnacker fitted with heat pumps and solar panels and no gas connection.
