"We deliver more than cargo"
Largest US FAA Part 135 cargo airline, expanding into autonomous and VTOL cargo drone delivery via Matternet, Natilus, Sabrewing, and Merlin Labs.
Ameriflight, LLC is the largest FAA Part 135 cargo airline in the United States, headquartered at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport in Texas. Established in 1968 (originally as California Air Charter), the company operates scheduled and contract air cargo services from a network of bases serving the continental US, Puerto Rico, and the Caribbean, flying roughly 30 tons of cargo daily as a critical link in the supply chains of UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Beyond its conventional fleet, Ameriflight has positioned itself at the forefront of autonomous and uncrewed aviation in cargo logistics. It became the first existing Part 135 cargo airline to receive an FAA exemption to operate drones, gaining approval to add the Matternet M2 delivery drone to its fleet and launch a large-scale drone delivery operation in the US.
The company has also signed agreements to acquire autonomous and VTOL cargo aircraft, including a letter of intent for 35 vertical-takeoff cargo drones from Sabrewing Aircraft and an order for 20 autonomous Natilus Kona aircraft capable of carrying payloads up to 3.8 tons without a crew. Ameriflight is additionally collaborating with Boston-based Merlin Labs on retrofitting existing aircraft with autonomous navigation systems. These initiatives extend the airline's traditional logistics expertise into drone-based and autonomous middle-mile delivery, integrating uncrewed aerial systems into a regulated commercial cargo operation. Safety is the company's core operating value, integrated across its policies, procedures, and standardized training programs, and Ameriflight also provides specialized cargo charter services including radiopharmaceutical transport.
