Company Overview

Alstef Group is a French manufacturer and system integrator of automated handling systems for airports and warehouses. The group traces back to Alstef Automation, founded in 1961 at Boigny-sur-Bionne near Orléans.

Its mobile robotics business came from BA Systèmes, originally Bretagne Automatisme, founded in 1975 at Mordelles in Brittany. Alstef and BA Robotic Systems Group merged in March 2018 under the holding company B2A Technology, which was renamed Alstef Group in September 2020. BA Systèmes was renamed Alstef Mobile Robotics in June 2023, and the basystemes.com domain listed in the Mobile Robot Directory no longer resolves to a working site. In July 2026 the group announced a new mobile robotics facility in the Rennes area.

The AGV and AMR range covers pallet and tote handling, order-picking robots and storage shuttles for warehouses, plus airport vehicles: AVILOAD for ULD and container transfer and AVILOADXL for air freight pallets. Adjacent products include the Proxyshuttle, stacker cranes, the XSORT cross-belt sorter launched in September 2024, BAGware baggage handling software and BAGshuttle early bag storage. Moving walkways and air cargo handling systems are also supplied, with support, operations and maintenance and cybersecurity services.

Airport references include a hold baggage screening system at Paris Orly in 1998. The group acquired Glidepath, an Auckland-based airport baggage and parcel handling specialist, in 2019. Alstef states installations in 94 countries across six continents, serving food, bottling, logistics, pharma and cosmetics, and paper and printing customers.

Ardian, through its Ardian Expansion V fund, took a majority stake in 2024 alongside management, employees and the founders.
