AeroVironment, Inc. (NASDAQ: AVAV) is an American defense technology company founded in 1971 by aerospace engineer Paul B. MacCready Jr. and headquartered in Arlington, Virginia. The company designs and manufactures unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), loitering munitions, unmanned ground vehicles, counter-UAS systems, and space systems.
Its product portfolio includes the Raven B (backpack-portable ISR UAS), Puma 3 AE (waterproof, hand-launched fixed-wing), Switchblade 300 and 600 loitering munitions, JUMP 20-X VTOL UAS, and the VAPOR rotary-wing UAS. AeroVironment systems have been deployed in over 55 countries with more than 50,000 unit deployments. In 2025, the company acquired BlueHalo, adding directed energy and space communications systems to its portfolio.
The company also contributed the Ingenuity Mars Helicopter to NASA's Mars 2020 mission.
