1X Technologies is a Norwegian-American robotics and artificial intelligence company developing general-purpose humanoid robots. The company was founded in 2014 by Bernt Oivind Bornich in Moss, Norway, originally under the name Halodi Robotics. It rebranded as 1X Technologies in 2022, reflecting a shift in focus from industrial and institutional robotics toward consumer and domestic humanoids. The company maintains headquarters and engineering operations in Moss, Norway, with additional offices and manufacturing in Hayward and Palo Alto, California.

1X Technologies produces two humanoid robot platforms. EVE is a wheeled humanoid robot designed for deployment in logistics, security, and healthcare environments. It features a torso-mounted arm system on a wheeled base, allowing operation in human-designed spaces without bipedal locomotion. EVE has been deployed commercially in warehouse and institutional settings.

NEO is a bipedal humanoid robot designed specifically for domestic use. NEO Gamma, the production version, features a humanlike anthropomorphic design with slim proportions and is intended to operate in unstructured home environments. In early 2025, NEO Gamma demonstrated autonomous tidying capabilities powered by NVIDIA's GR00T N1 foundation model. Pre-orders for NEO opened in October 2025, with pricing set at $20,000 for early adopters or $499 per month as a subscription. A California factory was opened to manufacture NEO at scale, targeting 100,000 units by 2027.

The company developed its own high-torque, low-gear-ratio Revo1 servo motor, which is central to its hardware strategy. 1X also maintains strategic partnerships with OpenAI and NVIDIA for AI model development and compute infrastructure.

In funding, 1X raised $23.5 million in a Series A2 round in March 2023, led by the OpenAI Startup Fund with participation from Tiger Global, Sandwater, Alliance Ventures, and Skagerak Capital. In January 2024, the company closed a $100 million Series B led by EQT Ventures, with Samsung NEXT, Nistad Group, and existing investors participating. By late 2025, reports indicated the company was in discussions for a $1 billion raise at a $10 billion valuation.
