Unchained Robotics GmbH is a German automation technology company headquartered in Paderborn, North Rhine-Westphalia, founded in 2019 by Kevin Freise and Mladen Milicevic out of the local Paderborn startup ecosystem. The company builds tools aimed at making industrial automation accessible to small and medium-sized manufacturers that have historically found robotics too complex or costly to adopt.
Its online marketplace lets manufacturers browse, compare, and buy industrial and collaborative robots, grippers, end-of-arm tooling, and safety equipment from brands including FANUC, ABB, Universal Robots, KUKA, Yaskawa, Doosan, SCHUNK, Schmalz, and OnRobot, with published technical specifications and pricing plus live engineering support by chat, email, and phone. The LUNA operating system is a hardware-agnostic control layer that abstracts differences between robot brands behind one graphical interface, letting integrators run mixed-vendor robot fleets without switching tools per brand. Built on LUNA, the MalocherBot is a modular, brand-agnostic automation cell for palletizing and packaging applications, configurable without code and installable in under a day, with interchangeable robots from different manufacturers.
In June 2025, Unchained Robotics raised EUR 8.5 million to expand its marketplace and integration services and develop the LUNA platform further.
