Tendo for People

Tendo for People (Tendo AB) is a design-driven medtech company based in Lund, Sweden, founded in 2016 by Sofie Woge. The company develops soft robotic exoskeleton solutions that restore hand function for people with grip limitations caused by spinal cord injury (SCI) and similar conditions.

The company's founding insight came during Sofie Woge's master's thesis work in collaboration with NASA in Houston, where she developed a robotic glove to help astronauts maintain muscle strength in weightlessness. Recognizing the broader clinical potential, she redirected the technology toward rehabilitation and assistive care on Earth, ultimately launching Tendo to serve the approximately 5 percent of the Western world's population that lives with limited hand function.

Tendo's flagship product, the OneGrip, is a soft and minimalistic powered hand exoskeleton. It uses smart sensors and control algorithms to detect the user's own body movements, then assists the user in gripping and releasing objects intuitively. The device is designed specifically for daily life use, prioritizing low weight, minimal visual profile, and ease of donning, in contrast to the large rigid exoskeletons dominant in the market.

OneGrip is available as a custom-made assistive device and has undergone clinical validation in collaboration with Sunnaas Rehabiliteringssjukhus in Norway as part of the pathway toward CE marking and broader market authorization in Europe. Tendo has raised approximately USD 353,000 across three funding rounds and is listed on the Spotlight Stock Market in Sweden.

Tendo's work positions it at the intersection of wearable robotics, medical device development, and rehabilitative care, serving occupational therapists, rehabilitation clinics, and end users living with SCI.
