Squadrone System is a French unmanned aerial vehicle developer founded in 2014 and based in Grenoble, France. Delair, another French drone manufacturer, acquired the company on October 29, 2024, after which Squadrone System has operated as part of Delair's civil and defense drone business rather than as an independent entity.
Before the acquisition, Squadrone System designed multi-copter platforms for applications spanning consumer video capture and defense. Its HEXO+ was a hexacopter that used a smartphone app rather than a handheld remote control to autonomously follow and film a subject, with a 3-axis camera gimbal, a top speed of about 70 km/h, and roughly 100 selectable filming movements including follow, pan, hover and fly modes; the product was funded through a Kickstarter campaign that raised over 1.3 million dollars. The company's later work moved into UAV swarming, developed under the TAMOS program, and counter-drone systems developed under the RapidEagle program, alongside automated industrial drone inspection.
At the time of the acquisition, Squadrone System employed 22 people and generated an estimated 2 million euros in 2024 revenue. Delair's stated rationale was to add swarm, anti-drone and inspection capability to its own roadmap, which also covers energy, image processing and electronic warfare systems for drones.
